loner

James Forrest Berry's, #96, Y-DNA1-12 results came in today, 16 days ahead of 'estimate'.    Not only does Jim have no matches in the project he is also the lone member of a brand new haplogroup to the Project.    He's estimated to be J2e1 by FTDNA who, unfortunately, still use an outmoded tree. According to FTDNA, J2el is characterized by SNP M102.

The Wikipedia article on Haplogroup J2 subdivides that haplogroup into divisions a and b.    SNP M102 is listed in the Wikipedia article as characterizing J2b1 in conformity with the current ISOGG Y-DNA Haplogroup Tree 2007.    Likewise, Whit Athey's haplogroup predictor computes Jim to be haplogroup J2 with a fitness score of 65 and 100% probablility.    Since FTDNA typically runs behind the curve in this area, we'll use the current ISOGG designation in this Project, J2b1.
